The case against 20 top websites including Google, Facebook and Microsoft has been postponed to 23rd May.They complaint lodged by journalist Vinay Rai, who believes that web companies should be prosecuted for objectionable content.
Web companies though say that such censorship is impractical considering the huge amount of traffic to their sites. A law passed last year makes it mandatory to remove harmful, defamatory, blasphemous or obscene content within 36 hours. Companies agreed that its their responsibility to remove objectionable content after notification. But argues that IT law protects them from liability of user generated content.
