Airtel to launch 4G LTE with ZTE hardware in Kolkatta.



Bharti Airtel has announced that it has partnered with ZTE corporation (for hardware) to launch 4G services in India.. Airtel the leading telecom company in India had acquired the Broadband Wireless Access license during auction in June 2010. The company had won the license for four circles which include Kolkatta, Maharashtra Punjab and Karnataka.





Airtel will use equipment from ZTE corporation a leading global telecom equipment manufacturer and supplier. ZTE will provide full range base station and macro stations. ZTE has already setup test networks with more than 100 operators all over the world.

Airtel will use the TD-LTE network rather than the FDD-LTE network used in the US. Airtel also announced that it looking  forward to launch services as soon as May this year. This will make it the first company to launch 4G network in India.
