After a user leaked the download link during testing phase, Facebook decided to make it available to users through the help center.
Facebook also reported that a messenger for Mac was in construction and will be available soon.
The standalone messenger will help Facebook to make users stay online for more time. Facebook.com has a record time of online stay of 6Hrs a month. But many of the users visit the website only once a day to view notifications. By using messenger the users will be notified in real time resulting in more visits to the website.
