"One day later...one million downloads of the consumer preview" was the tweet from the official Build Windows 8 team twitter Account '@BuildWindows8.
The consumer preview of windows 8 seems to be a huge success. It is not in vein that Microsoft brought the Metro UI to the Desktop version of windows.
It must be however noted that Apple had similarly declared of one million downloads of its Mac OS X (lion), in just one day.
But Mac OSX was not free.
